The Tablet PC is now a phenomenon. Since Apple launched its iPad tablet with huge success, many manufacturers have joined the game. These days everyone wants to own a tablet PC, but at $500 plus (N75,000+) for the cheapest tablet PCs from the leading players, most of us can only wish. The demand for cheaper tablets has led to a number of manufacturers taking advantage of this demand to make cheap tablet PCs priced at lower than $400 (N60,000) for constrained budgets. Most Cheap Tablet PCs run the Google Android OS with a few running other OS mostly Linux based. Here we will be showing some cheap tablet PCs.

Cheap Tablet PC is for 'smart people' who need a Tablet PC, but may see as insane spending more than 400 USD (N60,000) on one. It is also targeted at users who just cannot afford premium tablets. You can also buy cheap tablets for kids and students. Cheap Tablets will offer most of the features offered by premium tablets. The main differentiation is in user experience. Cheap Tablets may feature a display that is not as brilliant as the ones on premium tablets. They may also be heavier, fatter, and less stylish. Cheap Tablet PCs may not feature GPS, GSM/CDMA, and 3G Cellular. Some may lack reasonable built-in memory, but will include memory slots for extending its storage capacity. Other features of this cheap tablet PC include GPS, HDMI, Ethernet port, memory card support, etc. SuperPad Tablet has a few snags, one being that the display is not multi-touch. Another is that it has no built-in memory. 2GB memory may be included, but that may be hardly enough. So it is a good idea to buy additional memory. The good news is that the SuperPad tablet can support up to 32GB memory card. The SuperPad Tablet PC is currently available. Price: around $200 (N30,000).

Archos 70 Tablet PC is another low cost Tablet; one of the best in the market. It Features Android 2.2 with a 1GHz processor and a 256MB RAM. ViewSonic G-Tablet is 10.1-inch Tablet PC running Android 2.2. It features a 1GHz dual-core processor with 512MB RAM. Other features of this cheap tablet PC include HDMI, 1.3MP front-facing camera, 16GB built-in memory, up to 16GB memory card support, Wi-Fi, USB, etc. The major drawback of the G-Tablet is its display, which is not very brilliant. OLPC XO-3 Tablet


OLPC XO-3 $100 Tablet PC
The non-profit OLPC XO-3 Tablet is a project by the One Laptop per Child OLPC foundation in partnership with Marvell, a semiconductor maker and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The OLPC tablet is a cheap tablet mostly targeted at developing countries and will cost below $100 (N15,000) when launched sometime in 2012. It will be entirely made from plastic and run a Linux kernel with a friendly desktop interface. However, Marvell will release a commercial version of the tablet (not branded OLPC) running the Android OS at a higher price than the OLPC models this year (2011). The display will offer two modes colour and black and white view. Other features of this cheap tablet include 800MHz processor, 1GB RAM, camera, Cellular phone, induction charging, Bluetooth, FM radio, GPS, 3D graphics, 1080p Video, Wi-Fi, 4 USBs, etc. The OLPC Tablet is for children and education, but expect variants targeted at other segments to make it to market.

$35 India Tablet


$35 Indian Tablet PC
The $35 Tablet is probably going to be the cheapest priced tablet when available. It is part of an ambitious plan by the Indian government to provide a computer to every Indian child. This very cheap tablet is expected to cost no more than $35 (N5,250) when available and the Indian government plans to even drop the price eventually to $20 (N3,000) and ultimately to $10 (N1,500), through subsidies and more R&D. Like the OLPC cheap tablet it will be based on the Linux OS. The $35 cheap tablet will also feature Wi-Fi, touchscreen, PDF Reader, 2GB RAM, memory card, USB, Ethernet port, etc.

i want a cheap android tablet pc that has capacity to serve as phone as well as to use modem (gsm/cdma modem) for browsing. i wouldnt know if any of these tablets can do that. Please someone you direct me appropriately if am rather talking about another gadget entirely.
I had seen a gadget like that probably HTC and when I went to ikeja, I couldnt be helped out on the gadget type am really looking for. Thanks, while waiting for positive responses.

i just got a china tablet, as it was quite cheap. i can make and receive calls but i cant send out messages, load credits or check my credit balance. i ve not been able to browse or do other things with it as it doesn't connect. I'm confused. Do i need to configure it or what? please help whoever can as i'm at my wits end.

Before you fall over yourself to get cheeeeaap tablets, consider the specs; a resistive screen isnt as responsive as a capacitive, 256mb mega sucks, this is android not symbian u wud prob experience plenty ' memory not enough' while running some programmes. Gpu and chipset also matter. Its an android device doesnt mean it has the power to run all android apps if the gpu/chipset is flimsy....finally battery. These devices are friggin cheap do trust me, something major gotta give
