Multimedia messaging service MMS is a service offered by mobile operators that enable you attach multimedia contents like videos, picture, music, etc, to a message. The service enables you to express yourself in different ways. Only your imagination can limit you.
Before MMS, was the short messaging service SMS that enabled mobile subscribers to send a limited number of text characters (160) in a single message. This was limited and soon MMS was launched.
To use the multimedia service you need a mobile phone with General Packet Radio Service GPRS or 3G. You also need to activate GPRS. This you do by sending a code via SMS to your mobile network. The network will then send you your setting via SMS. Save these settings and in no time you will be able to express yourself via MMS. For full detail on how to activate GPRS visit the website of your mobile network.
You can attach videos, pictures, music and other contents in your messages. If the recipient does not have a GPRS enabled phone they will receive an SMS leading them to a website where they can view your message.
