Samsung Wave Y is an entry level smartphone based on the Bada OS. It sits at the bottom of Samsung’s family of smartphones based on the refined Bada 2.0 OS. It is targeted at users who want to have a feel of a smartphone without breaking the bank. Samsung Wave Y comes with the same 832MHz processor of the Wave M, but comes with a smaller 3.2-inch touchscreen and a less sensitive 2.0 megapixel camera.
A modern Bada OS, yet still affordable
Samsung Wave Y features the Bada 2.0, which has been refined into a modern operating system. Some new features introduced in the Bada 2.0 include full multi-tasking, NFC support, Text-to-Speech, Push notifications, Wi-Fi Direct, and an improved user interface that looks a lot like the Samsung TouchWiz used in the Galaxy line of Android smartphones (in fact the interface is called Samsung TouchWiz for Bada). Like the Wave M, Samsung Wave Y features an 832MHz processor.
Display & Camera
Samsung Wave Y has a smaller display compared to the Samsung Wave M, though they both offer the same 320 x 480 pixels (HVGA) resolution. It is a 3.2-inch TFT touchscreen. Samsung Wave Y features a modest 2.0 megapixels camera with HVGA video recording, an LED flash, geotagging, and fixed fucus. Unlike, the Samsung Wave 3 and Wave M, the Wave Y lacks a secondary front facing camera for video calling.
