Design and Display

While Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 appears designed to rival Apple’s iPad Air 2, the Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 seems intended to battle it out with the iPad Mini 3. The tablet is thinner than the already super-thin iPad Air 2 (6.1mm) and iPad Mini 3 (7.5mm) at just 5.6mm like its brother.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 is probably one of the lightest slates of this size from its Korean maker. The tablet’s display comes in slightly larger than that of the iPad Mini 3 at 8 inches, compared to the other’s 7.9 inches.

The touchscreen is based on Samsung awesome Super AMOLED display technology and boasts a stunning resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels offering impressive clarity.

Camera and Storage

Like the Galaxy Tab S2 9.7, Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 crams in an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera. The main camera has autofocus, face detection and Geo-tagging features, amongst others, and is capable of recording 4K (3840 x 2160 pixels) videos.

The tablet is available in both 32GB and 64GB versions – ample memory you’d say. You will be able to add up to 128 GB more storage using a microSD card, if you so require.

Power and Performance

Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 is obviously designed to serve out awesome performance to users with an octa-core processor hard at work under the hood. Responsiveness is enhanced with ample RAM of 3 GB capacity while a Mali-T760 MP6 GPU takes care of graphics.

The tablet runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system, which will very likely be upgradeable to the latest 5.1 version. The OS is overlaid with Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface.
