The Satellite Radius is one of two newly-unveiled convertibles from Toshiba – the other being the Satellite Fusion. The laptop available in 14-inch and 15-inch models pack an awesome 4K display while also promising impressive versatility and immersive sound.
Design and Build Quality
Toshiba Satellite Radius flaunts a relatively slim and attractive profile. However, this redesigned convertible is surprisingly not as thin as last year’s model. Equally surprising is the fact that it weighs marginally more than its predecessor.
Perhaps, this is because it brings better features along. It is available in 14-inch and 15-inch variants. The 14-inch model features a brushed resin matte body, while the 15-inch version parades a high-end brushed aluminium chassis.
The Toshiba Satellite Radius has an exceptional 2-axis hinge that allows you rotate the convertible a full 360 degrees and use it in five different modes.
As previously stated, Toshiba Satellite Radius comes in two different sizes. But the screen comes in three different configurations. A flavour has a 14-inch diagonal display, while another packs a 15.6-inch diagonal screen.
The third configuration packs a 15.6-inch display with a breathtaking 4K resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels for a pixel density of 282 ppi. This convertible’s display is touch-sensitive.
Toshiba gives buyers the option of configuring their units with either an Intel Core (5th-generation) or AMD processor. The selected processor can be paired with up to 12 GB of RAM.
Toshiba Satellite Radius can be configured with up to 750 GB of hard drive space or 512 GB of SSD storage. It will come with Windows 8.1 preloaded, but it is designed for the latest Windows 10 and is eligible for free upgrade when the latter becomes available.
Integrated Harman Kardon speakers, which are supported by DTS Sound and exclusive Slipstream port technologies, pump out sound that is sweet to the ear. Toshiba Satellite Radius features unique dual-array microphones to help users get the best out of voice-based apps like Cortana and Skype.
Toshiba provides a battery which it says could deliver about eight hours of use on a single charge.
Pricing and availability
Toshiba Satellite Radius 2-in-1 convertible laptops are not yet available in Nigeria, but have gone on sale in the United States. Toshiba Satellite Fusion price in Nigeria is expected to start around N120,000 for the Radius 14 and 170,000 Naira for the Radius 15, depending on your location and the configuration of the laptop.
