The Spro Plus is an unusual device ZTE brought along with the Blade V7 and Blade V7 Lite to MWC 2016. A new category in its Chinese maker’s Spro range, it is designed for both business and entertainment. It is a smart projector, which can also serve as a tablet or Wi-Fi hotspot.

Design and Display

The ZTE Spro Plus rocks an elegant circular design. It is rather thick and big with dimensions of 228.8 x 150 x 24.8 millimetres – this limits its appeal as a device you may want to use as tablet.

It crams in a humongous 8.4-inch AMOLED touch display with stunning 2K resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels. That is one awesome screen you will relish viewing content on with friends.

Smart Projector

First and foremost, the Spro Plus is a projector. Its maker boasts that it can project distortion-free images onto any place and regardless of direction.

Relying on laser technology, it is able to project images at 500 lumens, considered the ideal luminescence for both day-lit and dark settings. The ZTE Spro Plus supposedly has the ability to project up to an 80-inch image from a distance of 2.4 metres.

Hardware and Software

The Spro Plus will be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 or 625 processor, with support provided by ample 3 GB of RAM. Onboard storage capacity will be 32 GB or a jaw-dropping 128 GB, which users will still be able to expand using a microSD card. The projector runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system, which boosts its tablet credibility in a way.

Other Features

Juice will be supplied to the ZTE Spro Plus by a colossal 12,100mAh battery, which is expected to enable projection time of up to six hours. Superb sound is covered by a robust JBL sound system with a pair of 4-watt speakers. Harman sub-miniature microphones are also onboard for voice detection from over five metres away.

The Spro Plus will be available in Wi-Fi only and 4G LTE models. You will be able to use it as a Wi-Fi hotspot with both 2.4GHz and 5GHz a/ b/g/n/ac networking. It supports VoLTE for voice calls and an external USB camera for video calls.
