Nokia Oro is a gold plated luxury smartphone. It is a limited edition smart phone targeted at users who want a distinctive look on their phone and do not mind spending good money to make that happen. Nokia Oro comes with an 18-carat scratch-resistant gold plating, a home key made from sapphire crystal, premium leather at the back, and an 18 carat gold plated Bluetooth headset. Nokia Oro is available Europe, Eastern Europe, China and the Middle East.
Nokia Oro is essentially a C7 with gold plating, Sapphire crystal home key, and Symbian Anna. Its internal features are very similar to the Nokia C7. Like the C7, it comes with a 3.5-inch AMOLED display with HD viewing capability, 8 megapixels camera with 720p HD video recording, Wi-Fi b/g/n, and high-speed HSDPA internet.
OS, Software and Hardware
Nokia Oro shares similar hardware with the C7-00. Like the Nokia N8 and C7, Nokia Oro features a powerful 680MHz Arm II processor and a separate 3D/2D graphics accelerator for super-fast performance. However, Nokia Oro will launch with Symbian Anna, an updated Symbian^3 OS. Symbian Anna comes with a number of improvements like an improved user interface, a faster browser, five homescreens, improved social media support, improved multitasking, better instant messaging, email enhancements, and the latest Nokia Ovi Maps (v3.06).
Nokia Oro comes with impressive support for social networking and messaging. You receive live updates from your buddies on Facebook and Twitter and your emails directly on your home screen. While in the phone gallery, you can easily share photos via email, Twitter and Facebook.
Display
Nokia Oro features a 3.5-inch AMOLED Gorilla glass display, a capacitive touchscreen with multitouch feature. The display promises great HD viewing offering 16:9 nHD (640 x 360 pixels) resolution and 16.7 million colours depth. Nokia Oro also comes with pinch to zoom feature and accelerometer-driven screen orientation.
8MP HD camera
Nokia Oro comes with an 8 megapixel camera with 720p HD video recording feature. It features a dual-LED flash for shooting in locations with poor lighting. Other features of the camera include Face Recognition, Full focus, red eye reduction, geo-tagging, and so on. From the gallery, you can easily share your photos on Twitter and Facebook. Nokia Oro features video calling via a secondary VGA camera.
Network, Data, and Internet browsing
Nokia Oro features the usual network and connectivity stuff of Symbian high-end phones. It supports high-speed data on HSDPA/UMTS (up to 10.2 Mbps). Outside 3G coverage the Oro supports GSM with data services on GPRS and EDGE. It supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n for connecting over WLAN networks. The built-in browser offers faster browsing and is compatible with WAP 2.0/XHTML/HTML enabling you to browse WAP pages and websites tailored for mobile browsing as well as full websites. The browser supports Flash Lite 4.0.
Nokia Oro supports Bluetooth 3.0 for short-range wireless connectivity. Users can transfer files from/to their computer wirelessly via Bluetooth as well as share content wirelessly with other Bluetooth enabled devices. Nokia Oro also features microUSB 2.0. It has a built-in modem, which means users can connect their computer to the internet with their phone via Bluetooth or USB. It is an NFC enabled phone.
Price and availability
Nokia Oro is currently available in target markets of Europe, Eastern Europe, China and the Middle East. So, Nokia has no plans for Oro in Africa or Nigeria at least for now, but that does not mean you will not be able to see it in Nigeria. As for price, considering the price quoted by Nokia (800 EUR), the Nokia Oro should cost between N175,000 and N200,000 in Nigeria.
