The Design
The chic Dell XPS 15 is simply a beauty, without mincing words. You are likely to think of the Apple MacBook Pro immediately you set your eyes on this machine. It flaunts a sleek, well-built chassis fashioned with velvety brushed aluminium.
The underside of the Dell XPS 15 laptop is made of carbon fibre material which is equally nice to the touch. The machine, which has a starting weight of 2 kg, packs a backlit, island-style keyboard that you are sure to fall in love with.
The Display
If the design does not sound great enough, wait until you see the display on the laptop. Dell XPS 15 parades a pleasantly bright 15.6-inch display with LED backlight and optional touch.
The glossy screen has resolutions of up to 3840 x 2160 pixels on some models. The 3840 x 2160-pixel resolution, which is described as UltraSharp 4k Ultra HD, dwarfs that of the MacBook Pro. Dell XPS 15 is equipped with powerful 4th generation Intel Core processors. The Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processors run at speeds of up to 3.4GHz. The chip on the standard model is backed by DDR3L RAM of 8GB, but some other models come with 16GB of DDR3L RAM.
Rich graphics are ensured with the combination of integrated Intel HD Graphics 4600 and a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M graphics card which has 2GB GDDR5. This means a good number of games will run seamlessly on this unit.
A generous array of ports and interfaces is available on the Dell XPS 15, including three USB 3.0 ports and a USB 2.0 ports (with PowerShare feature for charging mobile devices), a mini DisplayPort, an HDMI port and a 3-in-1 media card reader.
Pricing and availability
The 2015 Dell XPS 15 Ultrabooks are not yet available in Nigeria, though 2014 models are currently on sale. Dell XPS 15 price in Nigeria is expected to start at around N300,000, depending on your location and the configuration of the laptop.
