Huawei GR3 is a smaller sibling of the GR5 designed to appeal to young users. Parading an elegant design, the smartphone features a smaller display, but it is equipped to deliver somewhat comparable performance with an octa-core CPU on the inside.
Design and Display
Although this may be described as a downgrade of the Huawei GR5, its design is not in any way off-putting as some might have expected.
Huawei GR3 flaunts a solid unibody design with aluminium alloy and metal frame. The phone sports a pleasant finish, which is the result of a ceramic sand-blasting process.
The Huawei GR3 is slimmer than the GR5 at 7.6 millimetres and is, unsurprisingly, lighter at 135 grams. It sports a 5-inch display with HD (720p) resolution. This screen supposedly offers 160-degree wide-angle viewing.
Camera and Storage
The Huawei GR3 comes with similar cameras as the expectedly more-expensive GR5. You will find a high-resolution 13-megapixel shooter with autofocus on the rear.
This is complemented on the front by a 5-megapixel, fixed-focus snapper for selfies. The Huawei GR3 also offers a satisfactory 16 GB of internal storage here for keeping your photos and apps. This is expandable by up to 128 GB via a microSD card slot.
Performance and OS
The Huawei GR3 boasts an octa-core processor under the hood. However, it loses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 CPU found on the Huawei GR5. This is replaced with MediaTek MT6753T processor clocked at 1.5 GHz.
The RAM capacity remains unchanged at 2 GB to at least guarantee buyers can expect smooth performance and enjoyable gaming. The Huawei GR3 runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system, which is coated with its maker’s Emotion UI 3.1 Lite skin.
Other Features
Juice is supplied to the Huawei GR3 by a 2,200mAh battery which you may expect to offer decent runtime, partly because the screen resolution does not go beyond HD.
The fingerprint sensor seen on the GR5 is missing here. But you still get 4G LTE (Cat. 4) as well as Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with Wi-Fi Direct and hotspot functionalities for making wireless connections. GPS with A-GPS and GLONASS are included in the package as well.
