HTC U Play

The Design, Display, and Camera

HTC U Play offers a glossy finish with a metallic frame. It features a 5.2-inch super LCD display with 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution. The display is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass, though HTC is yet to reveal the version.

HTC U Play has a 16 megapixels camera on the front and back. The cameras are of great quality. The rear camera features phase detection autofocus, auto HDR, and optical image stabilisation, which should make it great for taking photos.

The selfie camera on the HTC U Play offers 16MP, but can also operate in Ultrapixel mode. In UltraPixel mode, the camera is four times more sensitive to light, which will result in brighter selfies. Both cameras can record full HD videos.

Hardware and Software

HTC U Play runs Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) on a Mediatek MT6755 Helio P10 chipset. The chipset offers two quad-core Cortex-A53 processor clocked at 2.0GHz and 1.1GHz respectively.

HTC U Play has two variants, one with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage and another with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. The Android phone features a front facing fingerprint sensor on the home button. It features NFC, USB Type C, Bluetooth 4.2, dual-band Wi-Fi, and 4G LTE with download speeds of up to 300 Mbps. Like the iPhone 7, the phone lacks a 3.5mm audio jack.

HTC U Play supports 4G LTE on all networks in Nigeria including Glo, MTN, Etisalat, NTel, Smile, and InterC.

Pricing and availability

HTC U Play is not yet officially available in Nigeria. We currently have no data on pricing and availability for Nigeria, Ghana, or Kenya. When available, HTC U Play Price in Nigeria is expected to range from 180,000 Naira to 290,000 Naira at launch.
