The Google Pixel 7a is one of Google’s latest budget lineup. It is a mid-range smartphone announced on May 10, 2023 has the successor to the Pixel 6a. Design
Apart for the size, the Google Pixel 7a looks almost identical to the Pixel 7. It features a gloss plastic back that looks just like the glass back of the Pixel 7. It also has an aluminum frame surrounds the edges.
The Google Pixel 7a measure a dimension of 152 x 72.9 x 9 mm and weigh 193.5 g, hence it is compact and lightweight, making it easy to carry around and use for extended periods without causing discomfort.
The most noticeable change in this phone compare to the Pixel 7 is the camera bar which strip, which Google calls “3D metal visor”. Although, it is still made of aluminum, it is now slimmer with matte finish. Inside the camera bar is the dual camera setup and LED flash. Not to forget, Google “G” logo branding is still present at the middle of the rear panel.
At the front of the phone sits the 6.1-inch OLED display with thin bezels around the display, for a more immersive viewing experience, as it maximizes the screen-to-body ratio and reduces distractions. This display also has a punch hole cut-out at the center top for selfie camera.
The Pixel 7a does not have a 3.5mm headphone jack but it is IP67 certified, making it dust- and water-proof. It is available in coral (orange), sea (light blue), charcoal (grayish) and snow (white).
Display
The Google Pixel 7a features a 6.1-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400, hence, it offers a sharp and vibrant visual experience. The resolution results in pixel density of 429 ppi, thus ensures crisp and detailed content. It also has 20:9 aspect ratio which indicates that the display is taller, thus providing more vertical space for browsing and multimedia consumption.
Additionally, the Pixel 7a offers support for HDR (High Dynamic Range) which enhances the display’s capability to reproduce a wider range of colors and improved contrast, resulting in a more immersive viewing experience with more lifelike visuals.
Furthermore, it features an upgraded 90Hz refresh rate. This means that the display refreshes at a rate of 90 frames per second, resulting in smoother animations, transitions, and scrolling. The higher refresh rate contributes to a more fluid and responsive feel when interacting with the device.

The Google Pixel 7a features a dual camera with 64 MP primary camera, and 13MP ultrawide camera. The primary camera is armed with a wide f/1.9 aperture and a 26mm focal length. It has a large 1/1.73″ sensor size and 0.8µm pixel size, which helps the camera capture incredible level of detail and clarity.
It also features a Dual Pixel Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) technology which ensures fast and precise focusing, enabling you to capture sharp images in an instant. Additionally, Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) minimizes the impact of hand movements, resulting in blur-free images, even in challenging shooting conditions.
Furthermore, Complementing the primary camera is a 13 MP ultrawide camera with an f/2.2 aperture and a 120˚ field of view, which offers a unique perspective that adds depth and drama to your photos. Although, this device does not have a telephoto camera, it features 2x digital zoom, but this may not be the best.

To power the Google Pixel 7a, Google utilizes its own processor, the Google Tensor G2. It is built on a 5nm process and is based on the ARM v9 architecture. This phone has a total of 8 cores, consisting of 2x Cortex-X1 cores at up to 2.85GHz, 2x Cortex-A78 cores at up to 2.35GHz, and 4x Cortex-A55 cores at up to 1.8GHz. It also has a Mali-G710 MC10 GPU and a Titan M2 security chip.
The Google Tensor G2 is a significant upgrade over the Google Tensor G1. It offers up to 18% faster CPU performance, up to 35% faster GPU performance, and up to 80% faster machine learning performance.
