The Infinix Note 50x is the 4th member of the Note 50 series, succeeding the Note 40x. It features a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Ultimate chip, a generous 5,500mAh battery, a smart suite of AI tools, and respectable cameras. The 5G smartphone also features a 6.67-inch display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, and runs on XOS 15 based on Android 15.

Design

The Infinix Note 50x 5G presents itself as a bold statement in the mid-range smartphone market, especially when it comes to design and build quality.

At first glance, the Infinix phone feels intentionally crafted, not just assembled. It is built using Infinix’s new ArmorAlloy material, which is a custom alloy combining elements of Damascus steel and aluminum.

This blend, produced through an advanced HyperCasting process, doesn’t just sound impressive; it results in a device that feels solid, reassuringly hefty, and resistant to flexing or bending.

The process involves injecting molten aluminum at 700°C into precision-engineered molds with immense clamping force, eliminating the need for 22 traditional welding points. The result is not only a cleaner internal structure but also one that’s lighter, about 3 grams shaved off from typical unibody constructions, without compromising durability. Therefore, the Android phone is more resistant to thermal buildup and physical stress, ideal for long gaming sessions or extended streaming.

Despite the tough exterior, the phone is ergonomically friendly. At 198 grams and just under 9 mm thick, it sits comfortably in the hand without feeling like a brick. The curves on the edges are subtle but functional, improving grip without sacrificing the clean, monolithic feel of the phone.

At the front sits a 6.67-inch display screen, which has a centered punch-hole for the selfie camera. The screen-to-body ratio is around 90%, giving the phone an immersive front appearance with slim bezels.

One of the most eye-catching aspects of the Infinix Note 50x 5G is the rear camera layout. It sports an octagonal, gem-like module “inspired by the elegance of an emerald and the dynamic beauty of a kaleidoscope.”

The symmetry, angles, and polish of the camera island are unlike anything else in this price range, and the choice to center it visually anchors the design, giving it a sense of balance and intent.

The module also includes an innovative Active Halo Light, which dynamically reacts to different phone activities like notifications, calls, and gaming. There is also a 50MP primary camera, LED flash, an IR blaster, and an AI Lens, which, Infinix told us, is a “depth sensor equivalent.”

The back panel is finished in a refined micro-matte texture that manages to be both visually appealing and practical. It diffuses light in a soft, satiny way and feels pleasant to the touch, neither too slippery nor too grippy. It resists fingerprints surprisingly well, preserving its look over time without constant wiping.

The Infinix Note 50x is available in three different colours. The Titanium Grey and Enchanted Purple embrace an industrial design language with a smooth metallic sheen, softened by a refined micro-matte finish.

However, the Sea Breeze Green variant adds an extra touch of individuality, swapping the standard metallic finish for a vegan leather back. It doesn’t just look distinct, it feels luxurious, offering warmth and texture that metal can’t provide.

For functionality, there is a hybrid SIM slot on the left, with a responsive volume rocker and power button on the right, the latter doubling as a fast, accurate fingerprint scanner. A USB-C port sits at the bottom, flanked by a microphone and speaker grille, while a second speaker grille rests up top.

Both speakers are DTS-tuned, offering balanced stereo sound that’s impressive for its price segment. However, the absence of a 3.5mm headphone jack might be a letdown for users who still rely on wired audio gear.

Display

The display of the Infinix Note 50x 5G comes with its large 6.67-inch size and slim bezels that stretch almost edge to edge, giving the phone a sleek, contemporary look. It offers a 720×1600 resolution that, while not Full HD, performs well in daily use.

Text remains clear, images appear decently sharp, and video playback, especially at 720p or 1080p, is vibrant and enjoyable, making the screen feel more capable than its specs suggest.

The display strikes a decent balance between clarity and color vibrancy, leaning slightly toward a warmer tone, which gives content a soft, pleasing glow rather than a harsh or oversaturated effect. It’s not tuned for professional color accuracy, but for general media consumption and scrolling through social feeds, it holds up well.

In terms of brightness, the screen peaks at around 672 nits, which means the screen holds up fairly well in outdoor environments, remaining viewable in most lighting conditions, though direct sunlight can still be a challenge.

The panel is locked to a standard 120Hz refresh rate, delivering smoother animations, faster scrolling, and a more responsive feel overall. The high refresh rate makes interactions feel fluid and modern, elevating the user experience beyond what’s typical in its price range.

Additionally, the Infinix Note 50x also includes an Always-On Display feature in its settings, but since this is an LCD panel, it doesn’t function the way you’d expect on AMOLED devices. Instead of staying lit continuously, it only displays time and notifications when you tap the screen. While it’s not a true AOD, it’s still a handy inclusion that adds a layer of convenience without significantly impacting battery life.

Camera

The Infinix Note 50x 5G packs an impressive camera setup, although compared to the Note 40x, it does take a slight step back in terms of camera hardware. Instead of the 108MP primary sensor, you now get a 50MP AI camera; however, thanks to the processor and sensor, it offers improved results over its predecessor.

The 50MP main sensor features an f/1.6 aperture and PDAF, making it capable of capturing bright, sharp images, especially in daylight. Thanks to the wide aperture, it performs reasonably well in low-light settings, too, allowing more light to enter the sensor, although noise can creep in without ideal lighting

The main 50MP camera performs well in good lighting conditions, capturing detailed shots with accurate colors and respectable dynamic range. You get decent contrast, and the images come out crisp enough for social media or casual photography. The AI scene detection tends to slightly boost saturation, but it doesn’t overdo it, which keeps most photos looking natural.

Infinix includes a Super Night Mode, which brightens up scenes and pulls out some detail, but results are mixed; some shots come out usable, while others suffer from softness and noise. The absence of optical image stabilization means you’ll need a steady hand, especially in darker environments.

The camera app is intuitive, with easy access to modes like portrait, panorama, and beauty. Portrait mode on the rear camera offers decent edge detection and background blur, even if the depth sensor’s role is minimal.

On the front, the Infinix Note 50x 5G+ houses an 8MP wide-angle camera with an f/2.0 aperture, which delivers decent selfies in good lighting conditions. It captures natural skin tones and keeps noise to a minimum during the day, although details can appear soft, especially in dim environments.

The front camera supports video recording at up to 1440p@30fps and 1080p@30fps, which is a pleasant surprise for a budget device, allowing for sharper-than-expected video quality during video calls or vlogging. While stabilization is purely digital, it does an okay job with minor hand movements. There’s also support for slow-motion video and time-lapse, adding some creative tools for users who like experimenting with mobile photography.

The Infinix Note 50x 5G+ comes impressively equipped for its class, starting with the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Ultimate chipset built on a power-efficient 4nm process. This octa-core CPU configuration, featuring four high-performance Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.5 GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0 GHz, delivers a smooth and responsive experience across both everyday tasks and more demanding applications, such as gaming or multitasking.

It handles daily tasks like app switching, social media browsing, and light gaming with ease, and thanks to the Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, it manages graphically demanding titles at medium settings without excessive heat or lag. The Mali-G615 MC2 GPU complements this well, offering capable graphics rendering for mid-to-high settings in most modern mobile games.

In addition, the Infinix Note 50X is paired with up to 16GB of dynamic RAM (8GB physical + 8GB extended) and 128GB of internal storage. The storage is expandable via microSD, though it uses a hybrid slot, so users will have to choose between dual SIM functionality and additional storage. With memory fusion (RAM expansion), users can also virtually increase RAM by borrowing from the storage, enhancing multitasking capability even further.

The Note 50x  is backed up by a 5000mAh cell that easily delivers all-day use on a single charge, even under moderate to heavy workloads.
