Building Websites on Windows Azure

Building websites and apps on Windows Azure is very easy. The Cloud Platform supports web programming languages like ASP.NET, PHP, Python, and Node.js. You can build your application online or build on your computer and deploy to Windows Azure using FTP, or other technology.

If you do not want to build your website or application from scratch Windows Azure supports popular open source Content Management Systems like WordPress, Joomla!, Drupal, DotNetNuke, and Umbraco that are usually common in traditional web hosting.

Windows Azure offers a limited 30-day free trial. There is also a shared plan that enables you assign a custom domain to your website or application and allows for up to 1GB storage. If you are building a resource intensive application, a Standard plan with dedicated virtual machine instances for your websites and apps and up to 10GB storage is also available on Windows Azure.

Windows Azure offers 5GB outbound data-transfer free monthly with reasonable Pay-as-you-GO rates once you exceed the limit. The beauty of Windows Azure is that it scales as the demand of your website grows. You don’t have to ever worry about your website giving up due to overcapacity.
