The AG Zoom is the most pocket-friendly of all four phones, including the AG Ghost, Style and Boost, recently unveiled by its South African maker in Nigeria. It is a basic smartphone for entry-level users, offering a 3.5″ display, dual-core processor, and Android KitKat.

Build and Display

AG Zoom parades a body fashioned, unsurprisingly, out of plastic. It is quite thick by today’s standards and has thick bezels. The construction makes the smallness of the display more pronounced.

The tiny 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen has an HVGA resolution – that should be something around 480 x 320 pixels. It is obvious this one is not intended for seasoned Android users.

Camera and Storage

The AG Zoom neither gives a lot to cheer in terms of the snappers it has to offer. On the rear, you will find a measly 2-megapixel sensor which is paired with a paltry VGA (0.3-megapixel) selfie sensor.

You may want to stay away from this phone if you are the type that frequently takes pictures for your social media accounts. The internal storage capacity is capped at only 4 GB, so you will have to rely on the use of a microSD card for storage expansion by a maximum of 32 GB.

Performance and Operating System

With a dual-core MediaTek MT6572 processor provided under the hood, it is clear that the AG Zoom is not designed to appeal to power users – processing speeds max out at just 1 GHz. This phone is definitely not cut out for robust multitasking when you consider it comes with a lowly 512 MB of RAM.

Entry-level users will fare better with this configuration. In terms of operating system, the Zoom boots the now-stale Android 4.4 KitKat, which actually isn’t too bad for the money you will need to pay to get a unit of this device.

Miscellaneous Specs

This smartphone will be supplied juice by a 1,450mAh battery offering maximum talk time of four hours – not quite surprising given what is provided on its more-expensive cousins. The AG Zoom offers Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for wireless connectivity, but it appears users will not be getting 3G support and that will be a shame.

Pricing and availability

AG Zoom is available in Nigeria. You can buy the afordable Android smartphone at leading online stores in Nigeria. AG Zoom Price in Nigeria ranges from N9,000 to N13,000 depending on your location in the country.
