Display and Camera
Dell Venue 8 Pro has finally been given the much-needed boost with regard to its display. Unlike the measly 1,280 x 800-pixel resolution of its predecessor, the 8-inch display on this new slate offers an improved resolution of 1,200 x 1920 pixels for better clarity. But it appears the low-resolution display is not going anywhere yet, as the Full HD display looks to be optional.
The business-focused tablet sports a 5-megapixel camera on its rear and another 5-megapixel snapper. This configuration may seem poor, but, since most users will think again about using a device of this size for photography, the choice of cameras may be forgivable.
Performance and OS
Under the hood, Dell Venue 8 Pro brings along a new Intel Atom x5-Z8500 processor. The quad-core CPU, which is supported by ample 4 GB of RAM, runs along at speeds of up to 2.24 GHz.
The tablet will run on Windows 10 Pro operating system out-of-the-box, with the standard option being the Pro edition. Alternatively, you can choose to save $50 by opting for a model running the Home edition of the OS.
Miscellaneous Specs and Features
The Venue 8 Pro comes with abundant onboard storage capacity of 64 GB and, interestingly, this can be expanded further using a microSD card. With a micro-SIM card slot in the mix, the tablet offers cellular connectivity. It supports the use of a Dell Active Pen, which has to be bought separately.
You can enjoy blazing download speeds on compatible networks given the slate’s support for incredibly fast 4G LTE connectivity. Dual band Wi-Fi 802.11ac with 2×2 antennas is also available for wireless connectivity. Dell Venue 8 Pro offers a reversible, future-focused USB 3.0 Type-C port.
