Oppo has silently announced the 5G version of the Oppo A72 smartphone. The Oppo A72 5G is now available on its official website and other retail sites in China. The smartphone features a 6.5-inch IPS display and three rear cameras.

This is the first device from the company to go official with the latest MediaTek Dimensity 720 5G. Some of the major highlights are the 90Hz display, a big-sized battery the carries support for fast charging, and also a 16 MP triple cameras set-up.

Design and Display
On the body, the handset looks like the newly ZTE Axon 11 SE bringing in a smooth panel that is carefully wrapped with premium plastic. It has amazing colors with a special Red and Blue color Edition which is more attractive than the rest.
You will be greeted with square-shaped cameras on the panel alongside an LED flash. The fingerprint scanner is placed on the side. The phone has 7.9 mm in thickness and a weight of 175 grams.
The Oppo A72 5G packs a 6.5-inch punch-hole screen. It’s equipped with an IPS LCD panel that supports a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, an aspect ratio of 20:9, and a refresh rate of 90Hz. Thankfully, it offers a high screen-to-body ratio of 90.5 percent.
Camera
There is an 8 MP camera present on the punch hole for selfies and video calling. Meanwhile, the main camera arrangements on the phone include 16-megapixel, an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens with 119-degree field-of-view, and also a 2-megapixel black & white lens.
The camera is paired with an LED flash, HDR, and panorama. It can also shoot up to 4k videos at 30 seconds per frame.

The 7nm Dimensity 720 5G chipset at the heart of Oppo A72 5G is blessed with a dual-mode 5G driven by 8 GB of LPPDR4x RAM. It has an octa-core processor clocking at a 2x Cortex-A76 and there is Mali-G57 MC3 for graphics.
The phone has a UFS 2.1 internal storage of 128 GB. Sadly there is no option for a micro SD card.

The Oppo A72 5G has a 4,040mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging technology through the USB-C. It has Android 10 OS coupled with ColorOS 7.2 on top.

In comparison, the Oppo A72 5G comes with a 5G network and a downgraded battery as the standard version has 5000 mAh and also the camera set-up is 16 MP triple while the latter has 48 MP quad camera.
Overall, the Oppo A72 5G is the affordable version of the non 5G variant and the later will perform better in comparison.
