Design

The Infinix Zero 8’s design, may not be super exciting, but it does bear design elements that show improvements in Infinix’s smartphone design delivery, particularly when placed it side by side its predecessor, the Infinix Zero 6.

Laying aside the improved aesthetics for a moment, Infinix didn’t really do much in relation to build quality. we still have a combo of Gorilla glass and plastic, in a similar fashion to what we have had on most Infinix smartphones from the past.

On the rear of this mobile phone, we have a dual colour tone finish, on which you will find a camera module with a shape that can be partially described as two triangles joined together from their butts. It’s quite different from what this brand has offered in the past.

This camera module on the rear is home to a setup of four cameras and an LED flash. Also on the rear panel is the Infinix branding, which indicates its the OEM behind this technological piece.

90Hz Refresh Rate Display  on An Infinix Smartphone

Mouthing the words on the heading above really sounds kind of weird, because, over the years Infinix has had this tag of being mediocre.

In time past, it was very difficult to imagine an Infinix smartphone with a feature as premium as a 90Hz refresh rate. Fast forward to 2020, the whole game has changed.

The Infinix Zero 8 rocks a 6.85 IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1080 x 2460, a density of 392 PPI and to crown it all, a 90Hz refresh rate, which makes animated UI elements load faster.

This refresh rate will also have a positive impact on gaming, as it makes smartphone gaming a lot more enjoyable, due to the fact that they are going to become a lot smoother.

The Cameras

The camera department wasn’t left out. Infinix also made tremendous efforts in improving cameras. For starters, the Infinix Zero 8 packs in six cameras, four on the rear, and two up front for selfies.

The Quad rear camera setup is home to a 64MP primary camera, an 8MP ultrawide camera, a 2MP macro camera with an aperture of f/2.4, and a 2MP depth camera with an aperture of f/2.4.

This rear camera setup is capable of shooting videos maxed out at 4k @ 30fps. You also get 1080p @ 30fps video record mode, as well as HDR and Panorama modes for taking photos.

Selfies are taking executed by a dual-camera setup upfront comprising of a 48MP primary camera and an 8MP ultrawide camera. This camera setup is capable of shooting videos capped at 1080p @ 30fps. You also get HDR mode for photos.

Hardware and Software

As mentioned in the introductory paragraphs, the Zero 8 is the first true mid-range smartphone from Infinix. It packs in smartphone hardware equipped with what it takes to compete with top-grossing mid-rangers like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9s.

For starters, it runs on the MediaTek Helio G90T processor, which is the same processor on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 pro. It’s a smartphone gamer-centric processor that offers top-notch performance.

The other performance facilitators include a Mali-G76 MC4, 8GB RAM, 128GB built-in storage, with an option for storage expansion via MicroSD.

On the software side, it runs the XOS 7 user interface on top of the Android 10 operating system.

33W Fast Charging

A 4500mAh battery may not be the biggest on a smartphone, but Infinix wants enthusiasts to have top-notch charging speeds, and as such equipped the Infinix Zero 8 with a 33W fast charge mechanism, which is slightly more than the 30W charging on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro.
