Honor 50

Design and Display

The Honor 50’s design is unarguably one of the most beautiful to have been brewed in the stables of Honor. However, this design isn’t peculiar as we have a reminiscent of the Xiaomi Poco F3.

Aside from being reminiscent of the Poco F3, this design is also seen on its more premium sibling the Honor 50 Pro.

Making scrutiny of the rear, we discover a gradient design, which has pretty much become the par for the course for many smartphones in this category.

The star of this rear panel and probably the star of the whole design, are the two circles on the rear. These circles actually hold its rear cameras. The top circle holds just one camera, while the bottom holds triple cameras and an LED flash. Aside from the conspicuous camera module, there is also the Honor branding.

Moving upfront, we have what appears to be a subtly curved 6.57 OLED display with a camera cut out in the top middle position. The highlights of this display include a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, a density of approximately 392 PPI, and a 120hz refresh rate.

Enthusiasts that purchase this smartphone, will have a plethora of options as the Honor 50 comes in four colour options that include Frost Crystal, Amber Red, Emerald Green, and  Midnight Black.

The Cameras

The cameras on the Honor 50 are pretty much one of the most substantial on mid-range smartphones. The star of its camera hardware is in the rear, where we have a 108MP primary camera with an aperture of f/1.9, in a similar fashion to what is seen on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro.

Also on the rear, is an 8MP ultrawide camera with an aperture of f/2.2 and a 120˚ field of view. What’s more, we have a 2MP macro camera and a 2MP depth camera, both with an aperture of f/2.4.

Moving on to the front setup, we have a single 32MP camera tucked into the punch hole in the display. This camera has an aperture of f/2.2.

Hardware and Software

Performance on the Honor 50 falls in the mid-range category which is geared by its Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G 5G processor.

We also have the Andreno 642L GPU, storage, and RAM options that include 128GB 8GB RAM, 256GB 8GB RAM, a non-removable 4300mAh Li-Po battery, and a 66W fast charging capacity.

On the software side, we have the Magic UI 4.2 user interface running on the Android 11 operating system. Please note that Google play services are only available in certain market regions.
