Design

The Samsung Galaxy A35, while sharing similarities with the Galaxy A34, introduces significant enhancements in its design. Samsung has included a glass back panel instead of a plastic one. However, the frame of the A35 remains plastic. Despite this, the A35 maintains a sleek appearance, with a dual-glass construction consisting of a glass back panel and a Gorilla Glass Victus+ front panel, replacing GG5.

The phone’s frame retains its plastic material but features a new bump on the right side housing the volume and power buttons. Contrary to initial concerns, this bump enhances usability, making it easy to locate.

In terms of size, the Galaxy A35 closely resembles its predecessor, measuring approximately 6.37 x 3.07 x 0.32 inches (161.7 x 78.0 x 8.2 mm) while weighing 209g. It features a flat shape with curved edges and protruding cameras on the back, reminiscent of the Galaxy S24 series.

At the front, the Samsung Galaxy A35 features a 6.6-inch Super AMOLED display with a 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Additionally, the device has a punch-hole design on the screen that accommodates the front camera. It also features an under-display optical fingerprint sensor for fast and secure unlocking.

On the rear, the phone has a nicely positioned triple camera. Samsung describes the camera design as “flowing,” with three rings protruding from the back with an LED flash beside it. Moreover, the Galaxy A35 is IP67-rated for dust and water protection, aligning with the standards of many Galaxy A phones.

Meanwhile, this device boasts stereo speakers, with the earpiece doubling as a speaker alongside another speaker at the bottom. The left side hosts the SIM tray while the right side houses the volume and power buttons. Color options for the Galaxy A35 include Iceblue, Lilac, Lemon, and Navy.

Display

The Samsung Galaxy A35 boasts a 6.6-inch Super AMOLED display panel, featuring a remarkable 120Hz refresh rate, thus offering even smoother motion and animations, providing a more fluid and responsive user experience, especially during tasks like gaming or scrolling through content.

The 5G device also has a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and a screen-to-body ratio of 84.8%, hence you can enjoy crisp visuals and immersive viewing experiences. The display offers a pixel density of approximately 390 pixels per inch (ppi) and adopts a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, ideal for multimedia consumption and gaming.

Furthermore, the display utilizes an 8-bit color depth, thus producing a wide range of colors and gradients with precision and clarity. This depth enables the device to render over 16 million colors, resulting in vibrant and lifelike images and videos.

It also achieves a peak brightness of 1000 nits, measured using High Brightness Mode (HBM). This feature allows the device to produce exceptionally bright and clear visuals, even when used in direct sunlight or brightly lit environments. With this level of brightness, you can comfortably view content on the screen without straining your eyes or struggling with glare, enhancing the overall readability and usability of the device in various lighting conditions.

Camera

For photography, the Samsung Galaxy A35 camera has been updated. It packs a triple rear and a single front-facing camera delivering breathtaking results.

At first, instead of the 48MP main camera on the Galaxy A34, the A35 main camera has been upgraded to 50MP. The powerful 50MP main camera has a cutting-edge Samsung ISOCELL (S5K)GN8 sensor and a wide f/1.8 aperture.

This powerhouse of a lens delivers breathtaking clarity and detail, allowing users to capture every moment with stunning precision. It also supports PDAF and optical image stabilization (OIS), which ensures the main camera delivers crisp, blur-free images, even in challenging lighting conditions. Also, it has Zoom capabilities. It can capture 2X Zoom with almost zero loss of photo quality.

Complementing the main camera is an expansive 8MP ultra-wide lens, offering a panoramic 123-degree field of view that invites users to explore the world from new perspectives. Despite its 123˚fixed focus, the ultra-wide camera of the Galaxy A35 delivers impressive results, with vibrant colors, excellent contrast, and minimal distortion at the edges of the frame.

For those finer details, the Galaxy A35 offers a dedicated 5MP macro camera that excels at capturing the intricate textures and patterns that often go unnoticed by the naked eye.

On the front, the Galaxy A35 features a 13MP selfie camera, equipped with a Samsung ISOCELL (S5K)3L6 sensor and an f/2.2 aperture. Despite its fixed focus, this camera delivers impressive results, producing sharp and detailed selfies with natural colors and skin tones.

For Video Coverage, the Samsung Galaxy A35 can record video in stunning 4K resolution at 30 frames per second, and 1080p resolution at 30/60fps on the front and rear camera, thus ensuring you always look your best.

Hardware and Software

Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy A35 5G houses the Exynos 1380 chip, a familiar processor from last year’s A54. This octa-core processor, comprising four Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.4 GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0 GHz, ensures smooth multitasking and responsive performance across various applications. The chipset is coupled with the Mali-G68 MP5 GPU, thus, delivering impressive graphics rendering and gaming experiences.

In addition, the Galaxy A35 5G offers flexibility with three storage configurations: 6GB/128GB, 8GB/128GB, and 8GB/256GB, all boasting UFS 2.1 storage technology. Furthermore, you can expand the phone storage capacity up to a whopping 1TB using a microSD card, ensuring ample space for storing multimedia content, apps, and more.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy A35 runs on the latest Android 14 operating system with Samsung’s intuitive One UI 6.1 interface. This  OS promises a seamless user experience with lots of features and optimizations. Samsung also promised to provide four years of software updates and five years of security patches, ensuring that users stay up-to-date with the latest advancements and security enhancements.

One of the standout features of the Galaxy A35 is its lock screen widgets, which offer convenient access to essential information at a glance. Paired with the always-on display functionality, these widgets become even more useful, providing users with timely updates and notifications without unlocking the device. Additionally, there is the Samsung DeX support which allows you to transform your Galaxy A35 into a desktop-like experience, enhancing productivity and versatility.

The Galaxy A35 5G is also equipped with a whopping 5000mAh battery with supports up to 25W fast wired charging. This phone also comes with different connectivity features including Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/6, the Galaxy A35 delivers lightning-fast wireless connectivity across both 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequency bands.

Additionally, the Galaxy A35 features Wi-Fi Direct functionality, that allows for seamless sharing of files, photos, and other media between compatible devices, enhancing collaboration and productivity.

There is also the NFC, which enables you to transfer data and pay electronically easily, and Bluetooth 5.3 technology with support for advanced features such as A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) and LE (Low Energy), thus offering high-quality audio streaming to Bluetooth-enabled headphones, speakers, and other accessories.

This is one of the most affordable phones with eSIM support. However, the eSIM feature is not enabled in all countries and by all network operators.
