Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold marks Samsung’s entry into the tri-fold smartphone era. The premium foldable phone folds inward twice and opens into a 10-inch tablet-like screen while still behaving like a pocket-friendly phone when folded. The Galaxy Z TriFold features a standalone Samsung DeX, a 5,600 mAh battery (the largest foldable battery on a Samsung phone), a Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, 16GB of RAM, up to 1TB of storage, and a 200MP main camera.

Design

Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold uses an inward-folding tri-panel design, meaning the main display tucks safely inside when closed (no exposed flexible screen on the outside). Samsung says the device relies on its most advanced hinge work yet: two differently sized hinges designed to fold smoothly while keeping the panels aligned with a minimal gap.

It is built around the idea that your phone shouldn’t just “unfold bigger,” it should become a proper mobile workstation. This is why Samsung pairs the giant display with standalone Samsung DeX, tuned multitasking in One UI 8, and a 5,600mAh three-cell battery distributed across the three panels for better balance and endurance.

Despite the extra hinge and panel, Samsung has pushed thinness hard. The Android phone measures 12.9mm when folded. When unfolded, the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold measures as low as 3.9mm at its thinnest spot.

Durability is clearly a focus, too. Samsung lists a titanium hinge housing, an Advanced Armor Aluminum frame, and Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 on the cover, plus an IP48 rating.

Compared with Samsung’s earlier book-style Fold approach seen in models like the Galaxy Z Fold7, the standout upgrades are a second hinge, a larger display, a bigger battery, and more desktop-like productivity baked into the form factor. However, one thing to keep in mind, especially if you are upgrading from the Z Fold, is that the TriFold does not support the S-Pen.

It also carries an IP48 rating (water resistance plus protection against particles larger than 1mm. This means it is not fully dustproof, and Samsung warns that it’s not “dust/sand-proof” like candybar flagships often are. It is dustproof only if the dust particle is larger than 1mm.

Display

The headline feature of the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold is the dual-hinge display. When opened fully, you get a 10.0-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X main screen (2160 × 1584) with 1–120Hz adaptive refresh. Peak brightness on the internal display is listed at 1,600 nits.

Closed, the phone uses a 6.5-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X cover display (2520 × 1080, 21:9), also 1–120Hz, and it can push up to 2,600 nits peak brightness, handy for outdoor readability.

Samsung also leans into “minimised creasing” and display enhancements like Vision Booster for color/contrast in different lighting, which is essential on a device meant to be used like a mini tablet for hours at a time.

Cameras

Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold features five cameras. You get a triple-camera setup on the back, with one camera each on the foldable and cover displays.

The main camera consists of an impressive 200-megapixel wide-angle lens (OIS, f/1.7), a 12MP ultra-wide-angle (120° field of view) lens, and a 10MP telephoto lens (OIS) with 3× optical zoom and up to 30× digital zoom.

For selfies/video calls, there are two 10MP cameras, one on the cover display and one on the main screen (with a wider 100° FOV on the main screen camera).

Samsung is also positioning the big screen as part of the camera experience, offering more room for framing, editing, and AI-assisted post-processing (including features like Generative Edit).

Hardware and Software

At the center of it all, ensuring everything runs smoothly, is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy (3nm), paired with 16GB of RAM and either 512GB or 1TB of storage. It offers no memory card support.

Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold ships with Android 16 and One UI 8 out of the box. The smartphone is built for productivity, being the first phone to support standalone Samsung DeX for a desktop-like workflow with up to four workspaces.

Each workspace can run up to five apps simultaneously, helping you get a lot of work done. You can connect an external monitor if you want a second screen, plus you can connect a mouse and keyboard via Bluetooth for a portable workstation that unleashes your productivity.

Security-minded buyers also get Samsung Knox and Knox Vault.

On the AI side, Samsung highlights a range of Galaxy AI tools and deep Google integration, including Gemini Live with multimodal assistance (screen/camera sharing), as well as features like Writing Assist, Transcript Assist, and Generative Edit. Samsung also advertises a 6-month Google AI Pro trial (market terms apply).

Battery, Charging, and Connectivity

Powering a 10-inch foldable screen is no joke, and Samsung answers this in the Galaxy Z TriFold with a 5,600mAh three-cell battery system spread across the three panels to deliver balanced weight and performance.

It supports 45W fast wired charging, which Samsung says can charge the battery to up to about 50% in about 30 minutes. The smartphone also supports 15W wireless charging and 4.5W reverse wireless charging.

Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold offers multiple connectivity options. It supports 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and Dual Nano-SIM with multi-eSIM support.
