How to Watch DSTV on your Mobile Phone

To watch DSTV Mobile on your phone, you need a Wi-Fi enabled smartphone running a supported version of any of these platforms: Symbian, Android, BlackBerry, Windows Phone (eg. Nokia Lumia), or iOS (eg. iPhone). Because, most mobile phones do not come with built-in DVB-H receiver, you need an additional accessory to watch DSTV Mobile.

A Wi-Fi Drifta is the only accessory suitable for mobile phones. It receives the DSTV Mobile signals and broadcasts it to your phone over Wi-Fi. Another option exists for owners of iOS based devices like iPad 4 and iPhone 5. The iDrifta for iOS receives the signal and pipes it to your phone via the Apple 30-pin connector. To connect recent iOS devices like the iPhone 5 and iPad 4, you will require an Apple 30-pin to lightning adaptor. The Wi-Fi Drifta costs 12,250 Naira, while the iDrifta costs 9,500 Naira.

With the phone and the DVB-H accessory settled, one more task is required. You have to download and install the DSTV Mobile app at the official store of your mobile platform. Once you successfully install the app, you can start watching DSTV Mobile on your mobile phone.

DSTV Mobile is not available everywhere in Nigeria. To enjoy DSTV on your mobile phone, you have to be located in a DSTV Mobile coverage area. DSTV Mobile is only available in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Kaduna, Enugu, Onitsha, Asaba, Aba, Ibadan, and Benin. Coverage may be poor in some locations in the cities listed above.

DSTV Mobile offers up to 16 DSTV channels. Channels available include news, documentary, sports, music, movies, entertainment, and more. Two channels are free (NTA and AIT), but DSTV offers 3 months free DSTV Mobile subscription, if you buy a Drifta Wi-Fi or an iDrifta from any of their authorised outlets in Nigeria. Monthly subscription ranges from free (for active DSTV subscribers) to 660 Naira (14 channels).
