HTC is a new Android smartphone that is designed to compete in the midrange segment of the market against devices such as the equally-new Gionee S Plus. Like the Gionee device, it crams in a 5.5-inch display and is powered by an octa-core MediaTek processor. The phone’s main camera boasts optical image stabilisation (OIS) feature.
Design and Display
HTC Desire 828 parades an attractive appearance, which is just about what you would expect of a device from its maker. With a dimension of 157 x 78.8 x 7.9 millimetres, it should fit nicely into the hand despite its big size.
It packs a 5.5-inch diagonal display with a Full HD (1080p) resolution for great images and colours. Being an IPS panel, the touchscreen should make this device a nice one for watching movies with friends.
Camera and Storage
On the camera front, HTC Desire 828 impresses with a combo of a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The main shooter has LED flash, BSI sensor and, for the first time on a Desire smartphone, optical image stabilisation (OIS).
The OIS feature is commonly seen only on high-end devices. You will be able to record Full HD (1080p) videos with the rear camera. Internal storage memory is 16 GB and this can be extended further by up to a whopping 2 TB using a microSD card.
Power and Performance
HTC Desire 828 is armed with an octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor which runs along at speeds of up to 1.5 GHz. The chip is supported by RAM of 2GB capacity.
The phone will run on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system with HTC’s Sense 6.0 UI skin on top. Juice is supplied by a decent battery with a 2800mAh capacity.
