Design and Display
The Honor View40 features a premium body design that is similar to the Huawei Mate 40 device. Its entire body is built with glass coupled with a smooth panel and curved edges. The handset measures 163.1 x 74.3 x 8 mm and weighs 189 grams.
It has a 6.72-inch screen and also a dual punch-hole design. The Honor View40 is the first in the series to packs an OLED panel. The screen has an impressive resolution of 1236 x 2676 pixels, a 120HZ refresh rate, a 300Hz touch sampling rate, a DCI-P3 color gamut, and a 10.7-bit color depth.
It features an under-display fingerprint sensor for security. The phone seems to have been inspired by the Nova 8 Pro that was announced last year December. The company says it will deliver a screen-to-body ratio of 92.3 percent.
Cameras
As long as the camera is concerned, the handset has a 50-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 2 MP macro lens. The main camera features an RYYB filter array which allows it to capture brighter shots in low-light conditions.
There are other features on the cameras like dual scene photography, AI RAW super portrait engine, handheld super night scene mode, 4K HDR timelapse photography, and 1920fps super slow-motion video recording.
Selfies lovers will get a 16-megapixel main camera and a ToF (Time-of-Flight) lens for selfies.
Hardware and Software
The Honor View40 is receiving power from a MediaTek Dimensity 1000+v 5G chipset which brings support for 5G + 5G dual SIM connectivity. The chip is based on 7nm and has an octa-core processor clocking at a speed of 2.6 GHz with Mali-G77 MC9 for graphics. It has 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB inbuilt storage.
The device runs on Magic UI 4.0 based Android 11. It has support for GPU Turbo X graphic acceleration engine and also Hunter Boost for a lag-free gaming experience.
Battery and Network
Fueling the smartphone is a 4,200mAh battery with 66W superfast wired charging and 50W fast wireless charging. There is a dual SIM slot, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, and USB-C connectivity options available.
Honor View40 Price and Availability
The Honor View40 will sell for $556 for the 8GB RAM + 128GB while the 256GB version will sell for $618. The smartphone will be available in Magic Night Black, Titanium Silver, and Rose Gold.
The Honor View40 price in Nigeria is expected to be around 235,000 Naira, about 3,900 Ghs in Ghana, and 72,000 Ksh in Kenya.
The smartphone is expected to come with Google Play Services.
