Sony SmartBand 2 Fitness Band Specs & Price

Sony SmartBand 2 is the second iteration in Sony’s SmartBand fitness tracker series. It looks designed to rival Charge HR from Fitbit and similar trackers, being equipped with advanced heart-rate monitor that lets you keep tab on those activities that raise your stress levels.

The Design

Measuring 40.7 x 15.3 x 9.5 millimetres, Sony SmartBand 2 is attractively designed with quality silicone and weighs 25 grams. It should feel comfortable on your wrist all day long.

The core of the tracker can be popped out of its colourful silicone strap to allow you select another colour that matches your mood or dress style. The interchangeable straps come in white, pink, black or indigo.

Fitness and Heart-Rate Tracking

Sony SmartBand 2 does just what you would expect a fitness tracker to do – it monitors your movements and activities. With the aid of inbuilt sensors, it tracks everything you do, be it walking, running, swimming and even your sleep.

The integrated heart-rate monitor measures your pulse and stress levels in the course of your daily activities, based on heart rate variability (HRV). This helps to determine what activities raise your heart rate and the ones that return it to normal level, thus giving you insights into those things that could cause you health issues.

Sony provides the SmartBand 2 with an app called Lifelog, which keeps a record of your activities, heart rate and stress levels, amongst others, over time, to help you strike a balance in your life.

Additional Information

The gentle vibration and optional coloured LED lights of the activity tracker alert when you have an incoming call, SMS or email. Sony SmartBand 2 can be paired with devices running Android 4.4 KitKat (or later) or iOS 8.2 (or later).

You can set alarms and there is a night mode which disables notifications when you do not want to be disturbed. The accompanying app allows you control song playing as well. Sony SmartBand 2 is both water and dust-proof and is equipped with a battery rated to last up to five days.

Connectivity options include microUSB, low-energy Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC.

Pricing and availability

Fitbit Charge HR will cost 85 GBP. It is not yet available in Nigeria and we currently have no data on pricing and availability for Nigeria. When available, Sony SmartBand 2 Price in Nigeria is expected to range from N25,000 to N55,000 at launch.
