The Fitbit Alta is a fitness tracker designed to appeal to the fashion-conscious users, especially females. The thin band does basically what is expected of its kind, including activity and sleep tracking, and also brings a new feature that drives you to get active.
Design and Display
Arguably, the Fitbit Alta is the most elegant fitness tracker from its maker to date. It sports a stainless steel body with an attractive satin finish.
The wearable is designed to fit snugly to your wrist, even if it is small, which is why many ladies will find it appealing.
Fitbit Alta comes with a blue, black or plum plastic band, which you will be able to swap out easily for another optional one in a different colour or material, such as leather or metal.
The Alta is fitted with a tiny colour OLED display, making it a decent upgrade for those currently using the screen-less Fitbit Flex.
However, this is a tap display that does not support the swiping capability of a standard touchscreen. But you can customise it with distinct clock faces.
The Fitbit Alta keeps count of steps taken, distance covered and calories burned. It also offers automatic sleep tracking as well as silent alarm to gently wake you without disturbing others.
These are just what you’d expect a regular fitness tracker to do. However, the Fitbit Alta takes things a step further with Reminders to Move, a feature which sends you reminders at regular intervals (say, hourly) encouraging you to get active.
SmartTrack removes need to manually log exercises as it is able to recognise these automatically and record them appropriately.
You can view detailed stats of workouts via the Fitbit app on compatible smartphones and these data can be synced wirelessly across devices and computers.
Users are promised up to five-day battery life, which is just about the minimum that can be expected on a Fitbit.
The Fitbit Alta can pull call, text and calendar notifications from a paired smartphone.
Fitbit Alta Pricing and Availability
