Design and Display
Aesthetically, both the Huawei P40 Pro Plus and its less premium sibling are the same. It’s the same design. Placements are identical. However, some adjustments were made to its build.
The Huawei P40 Pro Plus parts ways with glass and opts for ceramics. You have got ceramics on the rear panel and frame, which sums up to a much more premium build.
On the rear, you have got a quad-camera setup engrossed in a square frame. Below the square frame is a Huawei moniker branding, which indicates its a Huawei smartphone.
Upfront you have got the same 6.58-inch OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It still houses a dual camera cut-out, which is a bit bigger than what we saw on the Samsung Galaxy S10 plus
The Cameras
Aside from having a premium ceramic build, the beefed-up camera hardware is probably one of the reasons you may want to opt for this Android smartphone instead of its less premium sibling.
The main upgrades here are in the rear cameras. The Huawei P40 Pro Plus spots two telephoto cameras for zoom. Both cameras have 8MP camera sensors. However one of them is capable of 3x zoom at 80mm, while the other is capable of 10x zoom at 240mm.
Other cameras in this setup include a 50MP primary camera, a 40MP ultrawide camera and a time of flight camera. This camera setup is capable of shooting photos in HDR, Panorama and also shoot 4k videos capped at 60fps, 1080p videos at 60fps,960fps, and 720p videos up to 7680fps for slow-mo footage.
The selfie camera remains unchanged. It’s still the same 32MP selfie camera with an aperture of f/2.2. This camera is also capable of shooting 4k videos and 1080p videos at frame rates maxed at 60fps.
Hardware and Software
Performance you have got the same smartphone. The specs are similar to what we had on the Huawei P40 Pro, with a very minute difference.
The Huawei P40 Pro Plus does away with the entry-level 128GB variant on the P40 Pro. The storage variants have been reduced to just two options. You have the option of choosing either the 256GB variant or the 512GB variant. All other specs remain the same.
You get the same Hi-Silicon Kirin 990 5G processor, 8GB RAM, Mali-G76 MP16 graphics processing unit, non-removable 4200mAh Li-Po battery, 40W fast charge and lots more.
The Google services fiasco remains. The Huawei P40 Pro Plus is still void Google services. However, you still get the EMUI 10.1 running on the Android 10.0 operating system.

The Huawei P40 Pro plus features a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB Type C port (3.1), dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1 and NFC.
Internet connectivity on the Huawei P40 Pro plus is capped at 5G. This means you will be able to stream and download with 5G speeds when you are in an area with 5G reception.
