The popular mid-range Android smartphone from Samsung, the Galaxy Ace, got an update in 2012. First, there is the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus, which is more like an upgrade of the first-generation Ace. This is now joined by the second-generation Ace, the Samsung Galaxy Ace 2. There is also a dual-SIM model, the Samsung Galaxy Ace Duos. This is an overview of the Samsung Galaxy Ace 2. Check out Galaxy Ace 4 Lite.

Samsung Galaxy Ace 2

Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 is the second major iteration of the Samsung Galaxy Ace. It features a powerful processor, a more brilliant camera, a larger and crisper display, and better battery life than the first-generation Ace.

Hardware and Software

Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 introduces a dual-core processor to Ace with an 800MHz dual-core processor. The first-generation Galaxy Ace offered a single-core 800MHz processor, so you are getting twice the power on Ace 2. An improved performance is to be expected from the Galaxy Ace 2 with 786MB RAM.

It features Android 2.3 with the latest Samsung skin, the TouchWiz 4.0 UI. The new TouchWiz 4 offers live icons/content that regularly updates, so you can get an idea of the latest updates without having to open an app.

You still get hubs for social networking, music, and games, and whatever you can come up with. The Samsung ChatON mobile communication service is integrated. As is normal with Android phones, the Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 comes bundled with Google services like Gmail, Google Maps, Google Talk, YouTube, etc.

It comes with a much better camera. Though still a 5 megapixel camera, you now get to record HD video with up to 720p HD recording. The Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 comes with a secondary camera for video recording, which was absent on Ace 1.

Data and Network support

Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 features fast internet access with up to 14.4Mbps data. It also features Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v3.0 with A2DP, USB, and NFC (optional). It also enables you to share your internet access via a hotpot feature.
