At an event hosted in China, Xiaomi unveiled the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro 2 laptop, an upgrade to the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro which was released almost exactly a year ago (September 2017).
During the launch event at ChinaJoy 2018 in Shanghai, Xiaomi announced two different variants of the Notebook Pro 2. The first variant is the basic Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro 2 while the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro GTX is the second variant with higher specs configuration.
Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro 2
Design-wise, or if you try to judge using the display (size or quality), you might not be able to tell the difference between the Mi Notebook Pro 2 and its predecessor.
That is because the body dimension and display are identical. Major differences exist in the internal setup which Xiaomi says will increase the Notebook’s performance by roughly 32% compared to the 2017 Notebook Pro.
A 15.6-inch screen with 81 percent of screen-to-body ratio, full HD screen resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) and 72 percent of NTSC colour space is in charge of display. The screen is an IPS display which comes with wide viewing angles and brightness level (300 nits).
The keyboard of the Notebook Pro 2 is backlit and comes with support for four independent colour zones and an individual key thickness of 1.8mm. Other features of the keyboard are a N-key rollover of 30 keys and five programmable keys. There is also support for fingerprint sensor and a webcam of 1-Megapixels above the laptop’s display as usual.
The Mi Notebook Pro 2 is fortified with a number of ports: three USB 3.0, 1 USB Type-C, 3.5mm headphone jack, Gigabit Ethernet port, and a HDMI 2.0 port. The device features two 3W speakers with Hi-Res Audio and Dolby Atmos integration.
The Mi Notebook Pro 2 comes in two variants; an 8GB RAM variant with Nvidia GTX 1050Ti graphics and Intel Core i5 configuration. The second variant has 16GB RAM, a Nvidia GTX 1060 graphics card, and Intel Core i7 processor.
Xiaomi Mi Notebook Pro GTX Edition
The Mi Notebook Pro 2 and Notebook Pro GTX are the same laptop PCs, but only with very changes in processor type.
While the Mi Notebook Pro 2 uses an Intel Core i5 processor, the NoteBook Pro GTX has onboard, an 8th gen Intel i7-8550U processor alongside a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Max graphics, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB PCIe SSD. There is also a 16GB variant of the Notebook Pro GTX.
Both models come out of the box with the Windows 10 Home operating system and with Office 2016 for Students pre-installed. There is a 60 watt-hour battery on board with support for fast charging via the USB-C port.
