Design and Display
The Galaxy A42 5G is still new a device and as such it comes with a beautiful looking body but built with plastic. The plastic panel is also housing the square cameras setup and an LED flash.
It has body dimensions of 164.8 x 76.4 x 8.4 mm and weighs around 206 grams. It comes with a 6.6 inches Super AMOLED display panel that has a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, 399 PPI density, and also 86.1% Screen to body ratio.
The front glass is protected by a corning glass and it also packs an Always-on display.
Cameras
The camera setup on the Galaxy A42 5G consists of a 48 MP snapper, an additional 8 MP ultrawide camera, and another 5 MP depth camera.
The cameras are paired with an LED flash and working together they can record 4K videos quality. Upfront on the hole is a selfies snapper of 32 MP and the sensor has HDR support.
Hardware and Software
On the hardware, the Galaxy A42 5G is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset based on 7nm process technology. The SOC is handling its assignment at a speed of 2.84 GHz.
The Adreno 620 GPU will support good graphics and the device is available in 6GB RAM and 8GB RAM variant. The inbuilt memory of both variants remains 128GB and it has support for micro SDcard.
Battery and Network
Keeping the device on is a nonremovable battery of 4500 mAh and it comes with 25W fast charging support. The juicer is small compared to the one available on the Galaxy M51. However, it will still last long under normal usage.
Booting the OS is Android 10 with One UI 2.5 slapped on top. The Galaxy A42 5G comes with an under-display fingerprint sensor for easy unlock. There is a dual 5G network and 4G as well. Other connectivity options includes Wifi, GPS, FM radio and 2.0, Type-C 1.0 USB.
