Design and Display
Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 flaunts a pleasantly slim body, coming in at a thickness of just 6.95 millimetres. Its Chinese manufacturer has done away with the plastic material used for the original Mi Pad and opted instead for all-metal construction on this one.
You may think of the new slate as the poor man’s Apple iPad Mini. It packs a massive 7.9-inch display with an impressive resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels for a pixel density of 326 ppi. With an aspect ratio of 4:3, the screen makes for a great device for reading e-books and e-magazines.
Camera and Storage
The Mi Pad 2 retains the same rear-facing camera of 8 megapixels for good quality images and videos. There is also a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for selfie takers. The tablet will be available in 16GB and 64GB storage versions just like the first Xiaomi Mi Pad.
The internal storage on the device should be expandable using a microSD card as was the case with its predecessor, which supported up to 128GB cards.
Power and Performance
There is a change in the processor supplied under the hood. Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 packs a quad-core Intel Atom X5-Z8500 processor – in place of the NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor used on the Mi Pad.
The 64-bit chip delivers impressive speeds of up to 2.2 GHz and receives backing from 2 GB of RAM for enjoyable multitasking. The slate will be available in Android and Windows 10 variants.
Juice will be supplied by a humongous 6010mAh battery with fast charge technology. The sleek Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 features a reversible USB Type-C port making it somewhat future-focused.
