The ASUS Zenfone 11 Ultra marks a significant departure from the compact flagship nature of the Zenfone 10 and its predecessors. It is no longer a tiny powerhouse but a substantial device measuring 163.8 x 76.8 x 8.9 mm in dimension and weigh 224 g (7.90 oz).

Although, in comparison, the ROG Phone 8 shares these exact dimensions and weigh slightly heavier at 7.94 ounces, but for Zenfone 11 Ultra, expanding from 5.9 to 6.7 inches is a huge size difference.

The Zenfone 11 Ultra is made of glass front and back using the Gorilla Glass Victus 2, with an aluminum frame, which greatly contributed to the overall weight of the device. Furthermore, the back features a matte glass finish that looks stylish but is prone to attracting fingerprints and smudges. However, it offers a good grip, reducing the chance of the phone slipping from your hand.

Additionally, the back of the android phone features a squarish camera module in the upper left corner, with subtle branding that includes a large A icon and the words “Asus Zenfone,” which are only visible when they catch the light. The camera bump is protruding quite a bit from the body and houses the three cameras and an LED flash.

When flipped over, at the front sits a dominating 6.78-inch display which is larger than most big screen phones even the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus and the Google Pixel 8 Pro has has 6.7-inch screens.

The display screen is surrounded by ultra thin bezels all-rounder and host a punch hole inside which the front facing camera lies. Meanwhile, the Asus Zenfone 11 Ultra has an in-display fingerprint reader for quick and accurate security access.

On the right side of the phone, you’ll find the volume rocker and power button. The bottom houses the off-center USB-C 2.0 port, a dual SIM card tray, a speaker grille, and a rare 3.5mm headphone jack. Therefore, the left side is clear of any button or port.

Above all, the device is available in four colors: Skyline Blue, Eternal Black, Misty Grey, and Desert Sand.

The Zenfone 11 Ultra, much like the ROG Phone 8 Pro, features a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED panel with an ~88.2% screen-to-body ratio. The screen has a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, resulting in a pixel density of approximately 388 PPI and a 20:9 aspect ratio, thus delivering sharp visuals.

The phone offers three refresh rate modes: 60Hz, 120Hz, and Auto. It can reach up to 144Hz in gaming mode, while in other modes it supports up to 120Hz, or a dynamic refresh rate ranging from 1-120Hz . The 60Hz mode is straightforward, providing a constant refresh rate.

The 120Hz mode also includes automatic switching logic through LTPO technology, reducing the rate to 5Hz when the phone is idle. The Auto mode adjusts dynamically, dropping to 5Hz when idle and occasionally switching to 60Hz during activities like video playback, which does not occur in the 120Hz mode. Overall, it supports a refresh rate of up to 144Hz, delivering smooth and fluid animations, ideal for gaming and multimedia consumption.

Additionally, the ASUS Zenfone 11 Ultra offers HDR10 support which enhances contrast and color accuracy, providing a more immersive viewing experience.  It enables streaming apps like Netflix to offer FullHD content.

Additionally, the phone supports hardware decoding for HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG, but does not support Dolby Vision. It also comes with a peak brightness of 2500 nits and 1600 nits in High Brightness Mode (HBM), the display remains visible even in bright outdoor conditions.

Moreover, the gaming phone sports the Always-on Display feature allowing users to conveniently view notifications without unlocking the device, adding to the overall user experience. Overall, the ASUS Zenfone 11 Ultra is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, it offers durability against scratches and accidental drops.


The Zenfone 11 Ultra’s camera setup is very similar to the ROG Phone 8 Pro. Its main camera features a 50MP Sony sensor with a large 1/1.56″ size and an f/1.9 lens, delivering exceptional low-light performance and detailed shots.

This main camera is equipped with a 6-axis gimbal, providing enhanced stability for capturing photos and videos. The advanced stabilization technology helps minimize camera shake and movement, resulting in sharper and clearer images, especially in low-light conditions or when using higher zoom levels.

Meanwhile, the ultrawide camera sports a 13MP sensor paired with an f/2.2 lens, providing a wide 120-degree field of view for capturing expansive landscapes. Additionally, the new telephoto camera boasts a 32MP sensor with 3x optical zoom and an f/2.4 lens, enabling close-up shots with clarity and detail. The phone have a 2x camera toggle, which captures zoomed-in and cropped shots with the main camera.

A standout feature of the zoom camera is its HyperClarity feature, which enhances image sharpness between 10x and 30x zoom using advanced image reconstruction and deep learning models. The camera system is further enhanced by features like PDAF (Phase Detection Autofocus), gimbal OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), and traditional OIS, ensuring stable and clear shots even in challenging conditions.

For video coverage, the device supports a wide range of recording options, including 8K@24fps, 4K@30/60fps, and various slow-motion modes up to 720p@480fps. Gyro-EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization) and HDR10+ ensure smooth and high-quality video recording with dynamic range.

For selfies, the ASUS Zenfone 11 Ultra sports a 32MP front camera with an f/2.5 lens, enabling sharp and detailed self-portraits. Features like panorama and HDR enhance the selfie experience, while 1080p@30fps video recording ensures high-quality video calls and vlogs.

Hardware and Software

The ASUS Zenfone 11 Ultra is powered by the Qualcomm SM8650-AB Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (4 nm) chipset, which includes an octa-core CPU configuration: 1x 3.3 GHz Cortex-X4, 3x 3.2 GHz Cortex-A720, 2x 3.0 GHz Cortex-A720, and 2x 2.3 GHz Cortex-A520.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 supports LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. It also supports Qualcomm’s Spectra ISP, which is designed to improve image quality from smartphone cameras.

Furthermore, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 boasts significant advancements in AI (Artificial Intelligence) thanks to its new AI processor, the Qualcomm Hexagon NPU. It offers a staggering 98% faster performance and a 40% improvement in performance-per-watt. This means it can handle demanding AI tasks much quicker while consuming less battery.

 In addition, the device’s graphics are handled by the Adreno 750 GPU, providing excellent rendering capabilities for gaming and graphics-intensive applications. This setup ensures high performance and efficiency for demanding tasks and multitasking.

In terms of memory, the Zenfone 11 Ultra offers two configurations: 256GB of internal storage with 12GB of RAM, and 512GB of internal storage with 16GB of RAM, both utilizing UFS 4.0 for faster data transfer speeds and improved overall performance. However, the device does not include a card slot for expandable storage.

The ASUS Zenfone 11 Ultra runs on Android 14, offering the latest features and enhancements of the Android operating system. According to the company, this OS will receive at least two major software updates and at least four years of security patches. Additionally, it supports Power Delivery 3.0 (PD3.0), Programmable Power Supply (PPS), and Quick Charge 5 (QC5) standards, offering versatility and compatibility with various chargers.
