Samsung Galaxy M14 4G was launched in March 2024, although it shares some similarities with last year’s 5G capable Samsung Galaxy M14 in the camera department. The android phone has a 6.7-inch LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate and 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution. It also comes with a triple rear camera setup, and runs OneUI 5.1 based on Android 13. The Galaxy M14 4G is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 4G chipset and backed up by a 5000mAh battery.

Design and Display

The Samsung Galaxy M14 4G share a similar look as the Galaxy A05s and last year’s Samsung Galaxy M14 5G. It has a sleek and flat design that looks plain but also recognizable enough. The body is made of a glass screen and plastic rear with a matte finish.

At first glance, the Galaxy M14 4G has Samsung’s triple camera cutout design on the rear. These triple vertically arranged camera on the back adds a touch of elegance but simplicity to the overall design of the phone.  The cameras are accompanied by a LED flash to the right, and the Samsung branding at the lower edge of the rear panel.

As discussed earlier, the Samsung Galaxy M14 4G offers a versatile triple-camera setup for capturing stunning photos and videos. The primary rear camera boasts an impressive 50 MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, featuring PDAF (Phase Detection Autofocus) for swift and accurate focusing. Furthermore, the photo-capturing UI has a 2x zoom toggle.

The main camera has enough resolution to accommodate digital zooming and cropping. These photos look pretty decent and very close to their 1x counterparts. The details are about the same, and so are the colors. Noise and dynamic range are still sore points.

Accompanying this, there’s a 2 MP macro lens with an f/2.4 aperture for detailed close-up shots, as well as a 2 MP depth sensor with the same f/2.4 aperture, ideal for adding depth to portrait shots.

Out of the box, the Galaxy M14 runs on Android 13, with the option to upgrade to OneUI 6. While it features the more toned-down ‘Core’ version of OneUI, which lacks certain advanced features like the secure folder and edge panel, it still provides a user-friendly experience.

However, some users may find the software experience somewhat sluggish, possibly due to the heavier Android skin. Despite this, the absence of ads, minimal bloatware, and decent support (2 years OS updates, 4 years security updates) make it a reasonable offering for a budget smartphone.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy M14 comes in two RAM variants: 6GB and 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM, offering users flexibility based on their performance needs. Both variants feature fixed onboard storage of 128GB, ensuring ample space for storing apps, photos, videos, and other media. Additionally, users can also expand storage further via a microSD card slot, providing additional room for their growing digital content.

However, it’s worth noting that despite the generous storage capacity, the use of eMMC 5.1 storage chips instead of faster UFS storage may impact overall system performance and fluidity.

While eMMC storage is sufficient for basic tasks, it may result in slower read and write speeds compared to UFS storage, potentially leading to longer loading times and delays in app responsiveness. Nonetheless, considering the budget-friendly nature of the device, this compromise may be acceptable for users prioritizing affordability over top-tier performance.

To back up the phone, there is a high-capacity Li-Ion 5000 mAh battery, ensuring long-lasting power to keep up with your day-to-day activities without frequent recharging. This battery supports 25W wired charging, allowing users to recharge the battery when needed quickly.
