Glo 3G plus, a new service from Glo mobile, delivers HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access) high speed internet to Glo subscribers with 3G/3.5G phones. The HSDPA high speed internet promises data transfer speed of up to 3.6 Mbps.
HSDPA high speed internet will improve the mobile internet experience of users. Users of this Glo service can now access faster and more efficient internet services while in the office, at the comfort of their homes or on the move.
This service brings HSDPA high-speed internet to offices and homes. It will improve the user experience. To access Glo 3G plus you require a 3G phone or a laptop.
To use HSDPA high speed internet on your 3G phone you need to first activate 3G plus. The HSDPA data card can be purchased from any Gloworld outlet or from any accredited phone accessories dealer. To activate 3G plus:
Step 1 SMS “activate” to 444, you will receive your 3G settings within 24 hours.
Step 2 save the 3G settings on your 3G phone.
To access high speed internet on your 3G phone simply logon to the web using the “Glo Direct” access portal on your phone.
To use the HSDPA high speed internet on your laptop, visit your nearest Gloworld outlet and subscribe to a Glo Data Plan. You also require a HSDPA data card.
You can access the high speed internet service at a special promo price of 30,000 Naira. This includes the cost of the HSDPA data card, one month rental and your monthly deposit. To retain the service in subsequent months, you will pay a 15,000 Naira for an unlimited access of up to 3GB of data monthly.
You can also access the service on a pay as you browse basis. Glo charges about 35 kobo/KB peak and 20 kobo/KB off peak. By the way an average website may take between 20kb to about 100kb.
Currently 3G plus is only available in Lagos but Abuja and Port Harcourt will follow soon. Glo mobile hopes to deploy this service in other parts of the Nigeria.
