The new Facebook Timeline enables you add a large photo to your timeline called to cover photo. Your cover photo is displayed on top of your Facebook Timeline with your profile photo hanging on the bottom left of the cover photo. Your cover photo will be the first eye catcher for viewers of your Facebook Timeline, so it is a good idea to add one.
How to add a Cover Photo
Your cover photo is likely to be the first item you will like to add to your Facebook Timeline. It will make your Timeline more interesting. Your cover photo should be unique to you. The photo you want to use as your cover must also be at least 400 pixels wide. Facebook also warns that you should not use copy-right infringing photos or photos that are promotional in nature.
To add a cover photo, click on Add a Cover button to the right of your profile photo. You can select your cover photo from your existing photos or upload a photo from your computer. After uploading the photo, you can drag it to fit before you save it.
Making your cover photo fit
One of the most popular complaints about the cover photo is that most photos will not fit in perfectly without requiring some cropping. As if that is not enough Facebook has not provided a tool to help you crop your photo while adding a cover, leaving you on your own to find a cropping tool. All you get is a drag tool which is almost always not enough.
One trick for ensuring your cover photo fits is to ensure that the part of the photo you want to appear on your timeline is as far away from the edges as possible. This will make it easy for you to drag the important area to focus without requiring cropping. You can also use a photo editing tool to edit your image to a perfect size or some available Facebook apps.
